Biography

Valentina Aduen is a third-year PhD student from Colombia with a focus on Media, rhetoric, interpersonal and international communication. Her research focuses on communication processes that empower underrepresented and vulnerable voices, more specifically developed in the trajectory of engaged research that emerged in South America; Communication for Social Change (CFSC). Rooted in constitutive notions of communication as transformative of social relationships, CFSC promotes participatory communication among vulnerable communities and in its pragmatism enables the creation of spaces for the community to make sense of their disadvantages in order to create sustainable social change.
