Biography

Kelly McNamara is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Del Mar College. She graduated from Texas A&M in August 2020. Her research focuses on organizational sociology and reproduction and birth. McNamara was a 2019-2020 Texas A&M University Office of Graduate and Professional Studies Dissertation fellow. Her dissertation forged the intersection of the reproductive justice framework and organizational theory to analyze labor and birth experiences. Specifically, the analysis examined how hospital organizational characteristics (i.e. ownership status, size, financial measures) affect patient experiences. McNamara has taught Introduction to Gender and Society and Introduction to Sociology at Texas A&M, and has assisted with Methods of Sociological Research, and Reproduction, Birth, and Power. In addition, she has completed the TAMU Center for Teaching Excellence Academy for Future Faculty and Teaching Assistant Institute.
