Degree plans are submitted electronically via the Online Document Processing Submission System (DPSS).

Request and Announcement of the Final Examination- This is the form that students must submit in the DocuSign system to request permission to schedule both the final oral exam for the Master's and the final defense for the Ph.D. The Graduate School must receive this form at least 10 working days (2 full weeks) before the date of the MS oral/PhD defense. When completing this form, in the field for "Staff Graduate Advisor," students must use Briana Hage brinhage@tamu.edu and in the field "Department Head/IDP Chair" Andrea Bonito bonito@tamu.edu.

Written Dissertation Approval Form (PhD) or Written Thesis Approval Form (MS thesis option)-- The relevant form along with a pdf copy of the MS Thesis or PhD Dissertation must be submited in the DocuSign system after the student's MS oral or PhD defense. When completing this form, in the field for "Staff Graduate Advisor," students must use Briana Hage brinhage@tamu.edu and in the field "Department Head/IDP Chair" Andrea Bonito bonito@tamu.edu.

Graduate Assistant Leave Form- If a student will miss their TA duties due to a family emergency or university business (ex: attending a conference), they must fill out this form. The form must be signed by the instructors they are TAing for and submitted to the Graduate Office for approval.

Letter of Intent- If a student wishes to continue on into the PhD program after completing their MS, they must fill out and submit this form in the DocuSign system during the semester they will be graduating with their MS.

If students wish to change their degree plan, program or department, they must submit a petition via the Online Document Processing Submission System (DPSS).

Preliminary Examination Checklist and Report Form- These are the forms that students must submit in the DocuSign system for doing their Preliminary Exam for the Ph.D. degree. Students should submit them two weeks before the date that has been decided on by their Committee for the Preliminary Exam. When completing this form, in the field for "Staff Graduate Advisor," students must use Briana Hage brinhage@tamu.edu and in the field "Department Head/IDP Chair" Andrea Bonito bonito@tamu.edu. The student's Committee will report the results of the Preliminary Exam on these forms through the DocuSign system promptly after completion of the exam. The Office of Graduate & Professional Studies must receive these results within 10 business days after completion of the Preliminary Exam.

Research Proposal Approval Form- Thesis-option MS and Ph.D. students must submit this form along with their proposal document in the DocuSign system. When completing this form, in the field for "Staff Graduate Advisor," students must use Briana Hage brinhage@tamu.edu and in the field "Department Head/IDP Chair" Andrea Bonito bonito@tamu.edu. For thesis-option MS students, this must be done a minimum of 20 business days prior to requesting permission to schedule the MS oral exam. For PhD students, this must be done as soon after the completion of the Preliminary Exam as possible.

Q-drop Request Form- This form is to be submitted to the Mathematics Graduate office when a student wishes to drop one or more courses. HOWEVER, STUDENTS CAN NOT Q-DROP TO ZERO HOURS. If a student wishes to go to zero hours, they must submit a withdrawal request in Howdy. Students on Teaching or Research Assistantships are required to maintain full time enrollment so if they Q-drop a course, they must late add another course in it's place to maintain full time enrollment otherwise they forfeit the assistantship. International students also have full time enrollment requirements and should consult with International Student Services (ISS) before they submit a Q-drop request. The university does not give a refund on Q-dropped hours. Students should make note of each semesters Q-drop deadlines (posted on the university's academic calendar) and not wait until the last minute to submit their requests as they might not get processed before the deadline.

Withdrawing from the University- Information on withdrawing from the university can be found at this link. Withdrawing is the only way to drop to zero hours once the semester has begun. Depending on when the student submits their withdrawal request in Howdy, they may be eligible for a refund but it is prorated-- the refund amount goes down the farther into the semester it is. Students supported on Teaching or Research Assistantships will forfeit the remainder of their assistantships for the semester they withdraw. International students should consult with International Student Services (ISS) before they submit a request to withdraw as it could affect their visa status. Students should make note of each semesters withdrawal deadlines (posted on the university's academic calendar) and not wait until the last minute to submit their requests as they might not get processed before the deadline.

Variable Credit Course Form- Students who wish to enroll in directed study Math 685 or research hours Math 691 must complete this form with their supervising faculty member. It is important that each student complete this form for each 685 and/or 691 course that they want to take and to bring the form to the departmental Graduate Office. The Graduate Office will then put in a request to the Registrar's Office for a special section number for each student to register under. Students can not register for the generic section number listed in the class schedule-- a special section must be created by the Registrar's Office which is tied to the faculty member the student will be working with.
